BIO:
Initially trained as a musician and cultural organizer, André L'Heureux worked as an independent contractor for several years, and then as Managing Director of his group of companies (L'Entracte Group) since 1990.
His early career encompassed a variety of domains ranging from soundtracks, theatrical entertainment, puppet shows featuring giant marionettes and international rock concerts held at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium (Pink Floyd, U2, David Bowie). Productions such as Quebec’s National Holiday Parade (a mere 15-year stint), Montreal’s 350th Anniversary festivities, as well as Christmas and Halloween parades figure among his diverse accomplishments since L’Entracte’s opening in 1990; along with the coordination of several trade shows, exhibitions and contests, and having staged several of his own event creations.
Since 1992, Andre has also been invited as a guest-speaker to many conferences, forums, seminars and university lectures, such as : Animation culturelle Program at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), the École du Show-Business, and the 2006 national forum on Quebec’s urban spaces, among others.
Having joined Concept Fiatlux (pyrotechnics and fireworks productions) from 2006 to 2008 as the firm’s General Manager, Andre’s main « mission » was to create a range of highly-innovative pyrotechnical shows incorporating a medley of other performance and street arts. Over the last four years, he has taken the reigns as Artistic Director for the Montreal HighLights Festival’s Celebration of Light (from 2006 to 2010 – including the 10th Anniversary event in 2009) and also for The Grand Masquerade (2004 to 2007), a project on which he played multiple roles as producer and general manager.
In 2007, Andre worked with The Old Montreal Ghosts (a theme-based sight-seeing tour outfit) to overhaul the creative aspect of their tour offerings. From 2006 through 2008, at the request of the Spectra Marketing Team, Andre developed and produced a children’s entertainment concept (Rio Tinto Alcan’s musical instrument characters) for the Montreal International Jazz Festival and was asked to preside as Creative Director for the Parade du festival at the event’s 30th Anniversary in 2009. On December 10th, 2010, he designed and produced a show entitled Salut à la flamme! for Montreal’s Olympic torch relay festivities.
Andre and is currently working on upcoming productions through 2012, one of which is Quebec’s National Holiday Parade.
